Which NFL Rookie Quarterback Will Win In The Playoffs Today: Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, or Russell Wilson?

What Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson have been able to accomplish so far this season has been nothing short of miraculous. Despite the fact that all three were playing college football last season—and in spite of the fact that none of their teams made the NFL Playoffs last season—all three guided their respective teams to the playoffs this season. That in and of itself is quite the accomplishment. But, which of the three quarterbacks will actually win their wild card matchup this weekend? Well, at least one of them will win because RGIII and Wilson will face off on Sunday afternoon. But, which of the three has the best chance? Let’s take a closer look…

The Rookie Quarterback: Andrew Luck

His Playoff Opponent: Baltimore Ravens

His Chances of Winning: 25 percent. The buck or, better yet, the Luck is likely going to stop here for the Colts on Sunday afternoon when they head to B’more to take on the Ravens. Although the Ravens have shown that they are susceptible to giving up big plays on the defensive side of the ball this season, we don’t think Luck is going to be able to put up the kind of yardage that he has during a number of games this season. We also think Ed Reed will walk away with at least one pick today. Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis just announced that he’ll be retiring after this season. And, we don’t think he’s going to go out with a loss to a rookie QB.

The Rookie Quarterback: Robert Griffin III

His Playoff Opponent: Seattle Seahawks

His Chances of Winning: 40 percent. The Redskins/Seahawks game is going to be a tough matchup for both teams. But, we think Seattle is going to be able to rush RGIII and make it difficult for him to find time to hit his receivers. We also think that, after one or two big hits from Seattle’s front four, he’s going to think twice before scrambling around in the pocket or taking off and running down the field. This game should be close, but Seattle is arguably the hottest team in the NFL right now.

The Rookie Quarterback: Russell Wilson

His Playoff Opponent: Washington Redskins

His Chances of Winning: 60 percent. Although he’s going to have to take his act on the road and play in a hostile environment, Wilson has shown that he has the ability to play well even when faced with adversity. It also helps that he has running back Marshawn Lynch at his disposal as well as a stout defense that should be able to limit the number of points that the Redskins put up. So, while it’ll certainly be a close game, we think Wilson’s ability to keep plays alive will help the Seahawks shut down the ‘Skins.
