Jennifer Lawrence Says “Acting Is Stupid” As Vanity Fair Names Her The World’s “Most Desirable Woman”
Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence has tongues a-wagging on the February 2013 cover of Vanity Fair.
The fashion magazine named the 22-year-old actress the world’s “Most Desirable Woman.” But, don’t expect the accolade to inflate the ego of the down-to-earth star. “Everybody’s like, ‘How can you remain with a level head?’ And I’m like, ‘Why would I ever get cocky?’” the Academy Award-nominated actress confessed. “I’m not saving anybody’s life. There are doctors who save lives and firemen who run into burning buildings. I’m making movies. It’s stupid.’”
Lawrence may consider making movies stupid, but that doesn’t mean the actress doesn’t get starstruck when meeting fellow movie stars.“One time someone was introducing me to Bill Maher, and I saw Meryl Streep walk into the room, and I literally put my hand right in Bill Maher’s face and said, ‘Not now, Bill!’ and I just stared at Meryl Streep,” Lawrence said in the cover story. “I just creepily stared at her.”
On the flip side, Lawrence still gets freaked out when fans stare at her. “I call my mom sobbing all the time…dealing with the repercussions of no more anonymity. You lose privacy,” she admits. “As much as this is a curse, as stupid as it sounds, to make as much money as I am by doing something that I love, it’s hard not to regret it when you’re being chased by 15 strangers.”
As a result, Lawrence may decide to quit acting altogether. “I love film making,” Lawrence said. “I love acting but I don’t feel married to just being in front of the camera. I’m a nomad. I just looked in New York and I was looking in LA and I can’t figure out where I want to live.”
