Tony Parker Left Nike & Is Now Endorsing PEAK Basketball Sneakers
Over the course of the last few years, we’ve seen a number of different NBA stars give up their Nike contracts in order to sign with smaller sneaker companies. In the past, this would have been considered insane. After all, doesn’t everyone dream about signing a shoe deal with Nike when they’re little? Since the days of Michael Jordan, kids all around the globe have dreamed about the day when they could tie their own pair of Nike sneakers onto their feet. And yet, it seems like every time we turn around there’s another NBA player giving up their Nike deal to sign with another shoe company.
The latest NBA player to make the move is San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker. For most of his career, he’s been a devoted Nike guy. But, recently, he announced that he will be running with PEAK from here on out. He’s not the first NBA player to make that move, either. In the past, JaVale McGee, Kevin Love, Kyle Lowry, Shane Battier, Dorrell Wright, and Jason Kidd have also signed sneaker deals with PEAK. Some of the deals have gone well, others not so much. But, PEAK must be offering a pretty hefty signing bonus to guys, because more than a few NBA players have signed a deal with them.
At any rate, Parker just made the decision to sign with PEAK and he took a photo with his first pair of PEAK sneakers recently. As you can see in the photo, he’s planning on rocking a pretty simple black and white PEAK sneaker to start off, although there’s no word yet on whether this will be his official signature sneaker or just a sneaker that PEAK made specifically for him. Either way, do you like the idea of TP moving over to PEAK, or do you think he should have stayed with Nike? Let us know if you’d ever consider rocking a pair of TP’s PEAK sneakers in the comment section below.
