Family Matters! Meet The Second Generation Wayans

Submitted by on January 14, 2013 – 10:50 amNo Comment

From the moment In Living Color hit the small screen in 1990, the Wayans family, including Damon, Keenan Ivory, Marlon, Shawn and Kim, quickly established themselves as America’s first family of comedy. Over two decades later, the second generation is ready to enter the spotlight and out from the shadows of the their famous uncles.

Starring Damien Dante and Craig Wayans (the nephews of Keenan, Shawn, Marlon and Damon), George O. Gore II (My Wife and Kids), and Tatyana Ali (The Fresh Prince of Bel Air), the new BET scripted comedy series Second Generation Wayans shows the good, the funny, and the ugly as Damien and Craig attempt to carve out their own paths to stardom in Hollywood. Joining the duo on this ride is friend and business partner George and their office assistant Maya (Ali).

”The Wayans family name is synonymous with comedy and entertainment, and you’ll indulge in plenty of laughter and amusement in Second Generation Wayans. You’ll also witness firsthand that life as a Wayans and childhood star isn’t all fun and games in Hollywood,” says Loretha Jones, BET’s President of Original Programming. “In a way, this series is a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to juggle the pressures of being famous while trying to create your own path.”

Second Generation Wayans will also feature special guests Marlon Wayans, Damon Wayans Jr., Kevin Hart, Regina Hall, DeRay Davis, Gabourey Sidibe, Erik Estrada, Terry Crews, LeToya Luckett, Keith Robinson, Affion Crockett, and more.

“The entertainment business is really about not giving up. It’s about not taking ‘no’ for an answer and really about believing for yourself,” Ali told Sister 2 Sister about the series. “What’s really fun is to watch these characters really go after their dreams and start a business together and keep each other’s heads up. So, I can definitely relate to that.”

Go behind the scenes of Second Generation Wayans (#BETWayans) below, which debuts Tuesday, January 15 at 10:30 p.m. EST after the premiere of Real Husbands of Hollywood.
