Are you sick and tired of hearing about Manti Te’o and the crazy Catfish-like scandal that he’s involved in right now? Well, we hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you’ve still got at least 24 hours of additional talk about Te’o coming your way. Today, the Notre Dame linebacker is set to appear on Katie Couric‘s show for his first on-camera interview following the news about his fake “girlfriend” Lennay Kekua and the hoax surrounding her existence. And, during the interview, we’re sure that Te’o will explain some things that will be talked about on Twitter and other forms of social media. So, prepare yourself!

That being said, we’re getting just as sick and tired with the Manti Te’o story as you are. So, we hope that Couric asked Te’o some good questions when she sat down with him to tape the interview on Tuesday. Specifically, there are a few things that we really, really need to know in order to move on from the story. What are they? Well, these are the 5 Questions We Hope Katie Couric Asked Manti Te’o During Their Interview That Airs Today. Hopefully, she had time to get the answers to these.

1. Why did it take you so long for you to come out and address the Deadspin story about your fake “girlfriend” Lennay Kekua?

Forget the fact that Te’o knew Lennay was a hoax on December 6 and continued to talk about her for a few days after that. We can understand why he wouldn’t want to drop a bombshell on the world immediately after finding out about the hoax. But, why did it take Te’o so long to come out and respond to the Deadspin story after it was published? If his position is that he was a victim here, why didn’t he come out and respond right away instead of waiting until last Friday night to do it?

2. Have you ever had any kind of relationship with Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, the man who reportedly orchestrated the Lennay Kekua hoax?

According to Te’o, Tuiasosopo sent him direct messages shortly after the Deadspin story broke to apologize and to admit that he was the one who set up the elaborate Lenny Kekua hoax. But, some people out there have speculated about the relationship that the two men did or did not have prior to the hoax. Did Te’o know him? And, if so, what was their relationship like?

3. Why didn’t you ever go to visit Lennay Kekua when she was allegedly sick and in the hospital?

To us, this is the most important question that needs to be asked. Te’o reportedly told ESPN that it never crossed his mind to visit Lennay because he was in school. But, we need a better answer than that. Did he not want his first visit with her to be while she was in the hospital? Did he not have the money to make a trip to California? Did he not think that the relationship was serious enough to warrant a hospital visit? If Te’o really loved Lennay, we have trouble wrapping our minds around why he wouldn’t want to go see her at some point, even if she wasn’t necessarily into the idea.

4. Did anyone in your circle ever ask you why they never saw Lennay Kekua in real life?

There had to be someone—a parent, a close friend, a roommate, a teammate, someone—who found it odd that Te’o and Kekua were never spotted together. So, we’d like to know if anyone ever asked him about it. And, if so, what did he say? Was their relationship not as serious as he made it out to be? Did he downplay it prior to her death? We need to know the answers to those questions!

5. Are you really as naive as you’re being made out to be in light of the hoax?

The only acceptable answer here is “Yes.” We’d also expect Te’o to explain just how elaborate a hoax like this can be and to warn others out there about these kinds of hoaxes. But, in order for us to believe him, he essentially needs to make himself look really, really bad during his interview with Couric. Otherwise, there are still going to be a lot of questions that are unanswered—and we’re not going to have any closure when it comes to Te’o's controversial situation.

We assume that that is not what he wants right now. He wants to move on. And, the only way to do that is to put everything out on the table and get it over with. So…will he do that? Guess we’ll find out later today.
