Kimora Lee Simmons Says She “Laid The Blueprint” For Beyonce & Diddy’s Clothing Lines
Kimora Lee Simmons wants you to know that she’s an originator, not an imitator.
The supermodel and ex-wife of Russell Simmons sat down with TheGrio.com to discuss her new Style Network reality show Kimora: House Of Fab, which follows the 37-year-old mom as she takes the reigns of her fashion empire and grows her latest venture, JustFab.com, an online fashion boutique which sells shoes and bags for only $39.95. When asked if there were too many celebrity clothing lines on the market, Kimora was quick to say that she started a trend with the creation of Baby Phat clothing line that celebrities like Kim Kardashian would soon follow.
“There’s always room for more. Because times evolve and people change. Before us, there wasn’t any Beyoncé, there wasn’t Sean John or Justin Timberlake, there wasn’t Jessica Simpson. There wasn’t any of that,” Kimora said. “We really laid the blueprint for that. One thing I love about myself in this business is that I don’t have to rely on the sales of an album, or my movie being a hit for my clothing to be a hit which is also something which we laid the groundwork for.”
