Rita Ora Dishes On Jay-Z, “Queen” Beyonce, & Being A Tomboy In Out Magazine
Why settle for wearing your heart on your sleeve when you can wear your entire face on your torso?
Just ask Rita Ora. The Roc Nation artist slumbers in a visually stunning bodysuit for the February issue of Out Magazine and dishes about her musical fairy Godfather, otherwise known as Jay-Z. “The first thing Jay said to me was, ‘Hey, kid!’ He raised me a little bit,” she said. “It’s very much of a family feeling.”
The 22-year-old British powerhouse may feel comfortable around Jigga man, but his wife Beyonce is a whole different story. “I was singing ‘Say My Name,’ and I was nervous because it was in front of the queen!” Rita said of performing the song in front of King Bey. “She did give me the stamp of approval at the end.”
Photographed by Marley Kate in feminine floral pants and satin fabrics for the spread, Ora admitted that she is more of a tomboy in real life. “Growing up, I would usually just be like one of the boys,” she said. “I became kind of a sneakerhead.”
And, while the singer is all grown up now, she’ll always be “mum’s” little girl. “My mum calls me up every once in a while and says, ‘Are you eating? Are you sleeping?’ ” the singer said. “You know, mum stuff.”
