The Best Super Bowl Ads Were Ones You Didn’t See

Okay, this is my last post about Super Bowl ads. Wow, that’s a really sad sentence to type. But still, I promise.

In the wake of all the popular spots from Sunday’s game, the net is buzzing with commercials that didn’t air for one reason or another- probably concerns about offending audiences, in several cases.

First is the awesome stealth ad for the upcoming G.I. Joe film. Wait until the end.

Yep, the ad is for COBRA, the evil organization always at odds with the brave Joes. I’m not sure why they are suddenly rescuing small children.

Why didn’t this one make it to air? I’m guessing they might have parodied recruiting videos too well. With the narration of Keith David (who narrates all the Navy recruitment ads), it might have been seen as insulting to the armed forces.

Also possibly offensive was this totally innocent, unassuming ad:

Oh yeah, it’s for adult tube site PornHub. Gotta give them points for trying to make an ad that no one could object to, and everyone would talk about.

Finally, here’s one ad that did air, but only in the Scranton, PA market:

A crowd-sourced ad for Dunder Mifflin paper products, which are apparently real.

What were your favorite non-aired spots?
