Wyclef Jean Preps New Mixtape, Drops “Hip-Hop” Track

Multi-platinum, Grammy award-winning artist, songwriter, and producer Wyclef Jean has been a staple within the hip-hop community since the early 90’s when he debuted his talents as the front man for the legendary hip-hop group The Fugees. After a successful solo career, his presidential candidacy in his homeland Haiti, and a starring role as a record mogul on ABC’s breakout hit Nashville, Wyclef has announced his plans to release a new music project titled April Showers.
Set for a spring release, April Showers is the first project off of Wyclef’s new imprint label Refugee La Republique/All Handz On Deck and will feature special guest appearances by 2 Chainz, TI, Waka Flocka, Uncle Murda, and Trae The Truth. Music lovers were given a sneak peak of what to expect from the creative genius when the first track “Hip-Hop” was released, creating an instant online buzz. Wyclef uses “Hip-Hop” to take a trip down memory lane as he pays homage to some of hip-hop’s greats, while also acknowledging the genres newest stars.
“The reaction I’ve been getting from the song ‘Hip-Hop’ has made me realize just how badly the fans want music that can evoke certain types of emotion,” said Wyclef. “With April Showers, I am going to show you where I feel the evolution and future of music is going. From this body of work you can expect a futuristic sonic eclectic sound.”
Wyclef’s upcoming mixtape April Showers promises a forecast that will help bring brighter days to hip-hop fans across the globe.
