Are You Excited At All About The New BlackBerry Z10?

Do you still have a BlackBerry? If so, then this post probably isn’t for you, so you can stop reading it right now. For whatever reason—maybe you can help explain it to us?—you’ve decided that you are #TeamBlackberry all the way, no matter how antiquated their old lineup of phones is. Or, maybe you’re just locked into a two-year commitment and can’t afford to pay full price for a new phone right now. But, either way, you’re not our target audience here. Our target audience on this particular post are all of the Apple iPhone and Android smartphone users out there who are dedicated to their current phones, and our question is simple: Are you excited at all about the new BlackBerry Z10?

Don’t all raise your hands at once. No, really: DON’T ALL RAISE YOUR HANDS AT ONCE! Okay, but surely someone out there is excited about the Z10, right? Er, right?

We sense that not many of you have BlackBerry on the brain right now, mainly because, as we said earlier, they’ve had a bunch of antiquated smartphones in their rotation for the last few years. In terms of smartphones, they’ve basically turned into the Boston Celtics of the space. Sure, they have their loyal, hardcore fans who are never going to leave them. But, they haven’t provided anything fresh lately. So, for the most part, casual smartphone “fans” have flocked to the Miami Heats and Oklahoma City Thunders of the smartphone world (iPhones and Androids) to get their fix and to seek out the latest and greatest smartphone options in the country.

But, the Z10, which was released in Canada earlier this week, should, at the very least, make you sit up and pay attention to BlackBerry. If nothing else, the Z10 does a nice job of looking like all of the other smartphones out there, thanks to the new BlackBerry 10 OS that it contains and the unoriginal new body shape of the phone that is already drawing comparisons to the iPhone 5. The Z10 also features an improved 8-megapixel camera, the ability to download and run more apps than any other BlackBerry, and a relatively large 4.2-inch screen (well, “large” compared to other BlackBerry screens) that’ll dwarf whatever BlackBerry screen you’ve had in the past. It’s a better BlackBerry…but that’s not saying much, is it?

Ultimately, we think that, if you didn’t care about BlackBerry before, you probably won’t care about BlackBerry now. Unfortunately, BlackBerry took far too long to respond to all of the changes that happened a few years ago when iPhones and Androids took over the smartphone world. But, we’re interested to know if any of you are considering moving back to BlackBerry now that they have seemingly caught up with other smartphones, at least for the time being. So, let us know: Would you consider picking up the Z10 when it comes to the U.S.? Or, are you completely over your “CrackBerry” phase and ready to move forward with whatever you’re using now?
