Zach Galifianakis Returns With “Between Two Ferns: Oscars Edition!”
Everyone’s favorite Hollywood interview show is back, just in time for the Academy Awards. In the latest episode of “Between Two Ferns,” host Zach Galifianakis sits down with some of the most buzzed-about performers in this year’s Oscar race.
Galifianakis continues to shine the brightest when facing off against beautiful leading ladies. In my mind, none of these interactions topped the site of him ignoring Jennifer Aniston in favor of Tila Tequila; but Galifianakis being shamed by Jennifer Lawrence and weirded-out by a drunk Anne Hathaway was pretty hilarious- and showed that the host can play the straight man just as well as the crazy one.
And of course, Amy Adams’ dramatic reading is show-stopping.
Galifianakis has stated that the show is sort of a parody of the sycophantic Hollywood publicity machine. Maybe that’s why it’s so funny seeing leading ladies get to shed their carefully-maintained public images; male co-stars generally aren’t held to the same standards, so there’s less shock value seeing Christoph Waltz act pompous.
This is the first new episode of “Between Two Ferns” since last May. If we’re lucky, this episode heralds a return to more regular releases.
