Gabrielle Union Stars In Miu Miu’s Short Film The Door
Gabrielle Union gets by with a little help from her friends in a new short fashion film for Miu Miu.
Titled The Door, the short follows Union as her character spirals into darkness. But, thankfully, she has friends in high places ready and willing to pull her into the light (played by actresses Alfre Woodard, Adepero Oduye, Emayatzy, and soul singer Goapele).
Directed by Ava DuVernay—the first African-American woman to win the Best Director Prize at Sundance Film Festival for her movie Middle of Nowhere—The Door chronicles a journey many women take in their lives.
“In the film, characters arrive at the door of a friend in need, bringing something of themselves,” said DuVernay of the fifth installment from the high-fashion women’s brand The Women’s Tales series. “Eventually, we witness our heroine ready to walk through the door on her own. The door in the film represents a pathway to who we are.”
The Door may tell an ugly story but don’t expect the Miu Miu fashions featured in the film to be anything less than fantastic. Watch it below.
