No shots. But, when we hear the name “Gucci Mane,” we don’t automatically think about athletics. We also don’t think of Gucci Mane as a sneakerhead. Does he wear popular sneakers like the Nike Air Max 95 from time to time and turn heads by doing it? Of course he does. But, he doesn’t really push the envelope when it comes to sneakers or have his own particular style with regards to his kicks. So, we must admit that we were a little bit taken aback on Sunday night when he interrupted the 2013 NBA All-Star Game to announce that he has his own “Air Guwaps” coming out soon.

If true, Gucci Mane obviously wouldn’t be the first rapper to get his own sneaker. Everyone from Lil Wayne to 50 Cent to Snoop Dogg has partnered up with a sneaker company in the past to release a sneaker. But, it’d be a little bit surprising to see Gucci Mane get a sneaker because he doesn’t really have the level of fame that those other guys have right now. Further, it doesn’t seem like he’d push people to flock to stores to buy sneakers. And, it also seems odd that he attached the #JUSTDOIT hashtag to his tweet and seemed to indicate that his sneaker will be released through Nike. Nike? Considering that Kanye West was the only rappers to ever team up with them for a new sneaker, that just seems crazy.

Maybe we’re wrong, though. Maybe people out there do want to add the Nike Air Guwap to their collection. If Gucci Mane released it, would you buy it?
