Thanks For Nothing 2013 NBA Trade Deadline!

The NBA Trade Deadline is that time of the season where basketball nerds pop their popcorn and sit in front of the TV, refresh Twitter at freakish rates and scour the internet to see how teams will be shaken up before the playoffs. If you are a gamer like me, you have to figure out how to get these players on other teams so you can have the rest of your NBA 2K season play out properly.

It seemed like something big was going to happen. Josh Smith appeared to be heading out of Atlanta. Some thought there might be a surprise Laker trade involving Dwight Howard. Outside of that, we patiently waited for that one trade that had us bellow “WTF?”

We never got it.

After spending the waning hours waiting for that big trade, all we got was J.J. Reddick heading to the Milwaukee Bucks for some tomato cans as the Orlando Magic go full bore into tanking their season. Hooray! Oh yeah, Jordan Crawford became a Celtic after they traded him for Leandro Barbosa‘s torn ACL. Whoopee! And finally, the Sacramento Kings launched 2013 NBA Draft pick Thomas Robinson out of the window and into a Rockets uniform. Alright!

Yup, the trade deadline was a total bust. As we head into the stretch run of the 12-13 NBA season, nothing has really shaken the foundation of the league. But does it ever? There are usually a few trades that raise eyebrows, but normally the moves are cosmetic and in an effort to clear up cap space to land a big name in the offseason. This year is no different. Milwaukee basically committed to making the playoffs by landing a dead-eye shooter in Reddick. Aside for that, nobody cared who went where.

At least it won’t be too difficult for us NBA 2K13 players to get our rosters right. And we’re thankful for that.
