Oscar Nominee Quvenzhane Wallis To Star In Annie Remake

Willow Smith, who recently dropped out of playing the title role in the upcoming Annie remake, has been replaced by Beasts Of The Southern Wild actress Quvenzhane Wallis. According Deadline:
“They’ve set Oscar nominated Beasts Of The Southern Wild star Quvenzhane Wallis to play the role, in a film to be directed and produced by Will Gluck. Also producing are James Lassiter, Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith producing through Overbrook, with Shawn ‘Jay Z’ Carter, Jay Brown and Tyran ‘Ty Ty’ Smith through Marcy Media.”
Quvenzhane, at age five, had to lie about her age to audition for the role of Hushpuppy in Beasts because the minimum age to be considered was six. She eventually beat out some 4,000 contenders for the role, and the film’s director changed the Beasts script to accommodate her strong-willed personality. Although she lost out to Silver Linings Playbook star Jennifer Lawrence in the ‘Best Actress’ category at last night’s Oscars, this is one little girl whose star will continue to rise. I know she’ll do a phenomenal job in the role of Annie!!!
