Beyonce Flaunts Her Fab Post-Baby Body In Shape: “I’m Not Naturally Thin”
She don’t think you ready for this jelly…or lack thereof. Beyonce recently showed off her stellar physique just months after giving birth to her daughter Blue Ivy for the April 2013 issue of Shape and opened up about the secret to her inspiring weight loss.
“I gained 57 pounds when I was pregnant,” the 31-year-old singer said in a behind-the-scenes video from her Shape cover shoot below. “I didn’t have a lot of time to lose the weight, because I scheduled a show three months after I gave birth, which I would never do again. I’m not a person that is naturally very thin. I am a person that has to work at keeping my body in shape.”
Named one of the 100 sexiest women of the 21st century, Beyonce—who is set to embark on her Mrs Carter Show World Tour starting in April—counts dancing and sessions with personal trainer Marco Borges as a few of the ways she gets fit fast. “I ate a very low-calorie diet,” Beyonce confessed to Shape in the April cover story. “I stayed away from red meat and ate a lot of fish, replaced pasta and rice with quinoa. I always have breakfast, say, scrambled egg whites, a vegetable smoothie, or whole-grain cereal with low-fat milk. For lunch and dinner, I eat a lot of fish and vegetables. And throughout the day, I try to stay hydrated. I always treat myself to one meal on Sundays when I can have whatever I want. Usually it’s pizza, which is my favorite indulgence.”
Despite her success, Beyonce wants every mommy to set reasonable goals when trying to drop their baby weight. “Not everyone is supposed to be the same,” says Knowles. “Be healthy and take care of yourself, but be happy with the beautiful things that make you, you.”
