Bruno Mars Talks Fashion & Passion In The GQ “Style Bible” Issue: “Sex Is A Great Party Starter”
Bruno Mars is flexing his fashion muscles on the cover of GQ‘s 2nd annual April “Style Bible” issue. Rocking a sleek, sky blue shirt and tuxedo jacket by Neil Barrett, Brunello Cucinelli patent leather shoes, grey trousers by John Varvatos, and the cherry on top in the form of a Salvatore Ferragamo fedora, Mars hits a fashion high note.
Inside the magazine, the “Gorilla” singer revealed the secret behind “Locked Out of Heaven,” his musical hit from his latest album, Unorthodox Jukebox. “It feels… sexy,” he said. “It puts you in a sexy frame of mind. It feels good to project. Sex is a great party starter. You know how hard it is to write a big song? That s*** is hard, man. It’s so hard to do. Might be one of the hardest things to ever do. I don’t ever want to come out with something safe and get away with ‘It sounds good!’ It’s got to be more than sounding good. The music I like are events…It’s that unexplainable high. Why I keep doing it. That feeling that you keep on chasing and chasing. Because it’s nothing, man. It’s taking the air and turning it into something. That’s the feeling.”
It’s a feeling Mars, born Peter Hernandez, hopes to recreate on albums to come. “I haven’t done a song like that,”said the 27-year-old. “And hopefully every album, I’ll get that feeling. And shock the world! Shock the world!”
And while Bruno is sitting on the top of the world now, the star already has his retirement plan mapped out. “On a beach,” he said. “Drinking out of a coconut, watching some kids running around in the sand, looking at the ocean… And then planning a reunion tour, overweight.”
The April issue of GQ hits newsstands on Tuesday, March 26. Check out the dapper singer in his GQ fashion spread below and press play to listen to Mars share his style secrets in the behind-the-scenes video below.
