Plastic Fantastic! Karl Lagerfeld Debuts A New Scented Melissa Shoes Collection

Submitted by on March 28, 2013 – 11:18 am2 Comments

We can’t help but smell the sweet success of the new scented shoe capsule collection created by Karl Lagerfeld for Brazillian “jelly” footwear brand Melissa Shoes. Featuring four different autumn/winter 2013-14 styles, Karl follows in the footsteps of Jean Paul Gaultier, Vivienne Westwood, and Jason Wu, who have all worked with Melissa. But, sources say Lagerfeld’s collection is on another level.

“This is one of the most exciting collaborations that our company has ever started,” says Paulo Pedó, Marketing Director of Melissa. “Karl Lagerfeld, the most iconic designer of the 21st century, has widened his kingdom by joining the world of Melissa. Lagerfeld’s great talent, synonymous with couture, will be translated into a shoe line, expanding our consumer base and making his brand more accessible for all.”

Supermodel Cara Delevingne, who stars in the campaign wearing a very plastic dominatrix costume, promises the shoes smell as good as they look. “The shoes are amazing, and they smell so good,” said Delevingne at the shoes’ release party. “In one of the photos, I’m drinking champagne out of them, so I got to know them pretty well.”
