ELLE rounded up a trio of sexy songstresses for their new “Women In Music” issue.

Adele, Alicia Keys, and Rita Ora shine on rotating covers for the May 2013 issue, which highlights the leading ladies in the industry. Rocking her signature bouffant and smoky eye and shot at the iconic EastWest Studios, Adele looks timeless in a black lace Alberta Ferretti dress. Meanwhile, Keys heats things up a notch in a red hot turtleneck by Jean Paul Gaultier.

“We shot Alicia Keys on the rooftop of Siren Studios,” said ELLE’s Assistant Fashion Editor Sarah Schussheim. “She radiated cool New York glamour, relaxing and singing along to a Grace Jones album.”

While Keys kept busy on set playing with her 2-year-old son Egypt between shots, Ora catered to the fans. “We flew to London to shoot Rita Ora,” said photographer Thomas Whiteside. “Fans kept asking for her autograph—she even stopped to dedicate a soccer ball to someone’s dog.”

For her look, Rita went dark ditching her signature blonde tresses and casual garb for a jet-black floral headpiece and gorgeous couture metallic Maison Martin Margiela dress.

“Rita loved hairstylist Ken O’Rourke‘s whimsical headpieces,” said Schussheim “She kept Instagramming selfies.”

Added ELLE Creative Director Joe Zee, “Including one of her in Mickey Mouse gear! Not many people get so excited to have their picture taken in whiskers—Rita definitely has a special aura.”
