Jaden Smith Models His Clothing Collection MSFTSREP & Dishes On His Fascination With Aliens In Wonderland
As a member of one of the most famous families on the planet, Jaden Smith is used to being in the spotlight. But that may be precisely the reason the 14-year-old actor, rapper, and designer has an interesting fixation with other-worldly things.
“I like aliens,” Jaden revealed to Wonderland recently. “I think aliens are really cool, because they exist. I talked to President Obama about extraterrestrials. He said he could neither confirm nor deny the existence of aliens, which means they’re real. If people think we’re the only people that live in this universe, then something is wrong with them.”
Talking conspiracy theories with the leader of the free world is just one of the perks of being the youngest son of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, and Jaden realizes how fortunate he is. “I mean, I went to premieres before I could talk,” Jaden says of realizing his family was special at an early age. “I saw [my dad's] first movie when I was one. I’m really happy and fortunate, and thankful that I can get brought up in a family as lucky as mine.”
And just like Will, Jaden is ready to make a name for himself in the music industry. “I try to go for the trippy vocals, the trippy sounds, because that’s what really makes a production, you know what I mean?” he said. “I was going for that kind of lo-fi sound, so I could show people that I don’t need big budgets and it’s serious—we’re rapping and it’s not a game. The movement, and everything, it’s actually real. We’re serious about it.”
Wearing pieces from his own clothing collection, MSFTSREP, the talented teen hopes to create a look that goes with his sound. “It’s kind of just black on black,” he said of his skater-inspired brand. “We all really like black, so almost everything in the line is black. Some would call it street goth. I would say it’s a fashion-forward street brand.”
Whether crafting beats, clothes, or his destiny, Jaden is ready to make his own path and let his fans into his world. “That’s the type of artist I am,” he confessed. “I let it flow out the way it’s going to flow out, and I don’t care what people are going to think about it. It’s really like a journey into my life—if you listen and pay attention to the lyrics. People like to hear honest things and that’s what really makes an artist. if you’re lying, you can disconnect from the story, and if you disconnect from the story, then people won’t like you any more.”
