One of the UFC’s top referees is now awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to conspiracy to manufacture and distribute marijuana and possession with intent to distribute.

Josh Rosenthal, who has refereed several main events for the organization, was swept up last October in a raid of a warehouse that he owned which contained 1,356 marijuana plants. Yes, 1,356 marijuana plants. The value of the weed hovers around $6 million according to MMA Junkie.

Rosenthal will now appear in a U.S. District Court on May 17 and could face 37 months in jail, several fines and five years of probation. The guilty plea will lighten the load as he could have spent years to life in prison along with a $10 million fine.

Rosenthal has long been a staple in high profile UFC fights and has garnered praise from UFC President Dana White and others. Obviously, that will change. It also explains his absence for the past few UFC events as word was that he had a staph infection. That clearly wasn’t the case.
