People has named Gwyneth Paltrow as is its 2013 World’s Most Beautiful Woman.

Ironically, the news comes just one week after Paltrow topped Star magazine’s list as the “Most Hated Celebrity in Hollywood” (sorry, Gwen, but it turns out people don’t like if you use the “N” word, even if you’re in Paris). The 40-year-old actress, who is married to Coldplay rocker Chris Martin, may travel to some of the most exotic places in the world. But she admits she feels most beautiful when she’s home with her two children, Apple, 8, and Moses, 7.

“Around the house, I’m in jeans and a T-shirt. I don’t really wear makeup… [My husband will] make a joke about it,” she confessed. “If I’ve gotten fully dressed up, he’ll be like, ‘Oh, wow! You’re Gwyneth Paltrow!’ Because he’s used to seeing me in like baggy shorts and frizzy hair.”

Paltrow only hopes she’ll be able to teach both her children the importance of beauty inside and out, especially since her daughter has started to mimic some of mom’s makeup rituals. “When we’re home sometimes, she’ll put on mascara. And sometimes I’ll let her wear something out to dinner—but just a little dab,” she says. “Also having a father who adores you the way that he adores her is very good for your body image. The more we can love her and let her be who she is, the more confident she’ll feel.”

From Kerry Washington and Kelly Rowland to Zooey Deschanel and Jennifer Lawrence, check out some of the other gals that made People‘s Most Beautiful List of 2013. Do you think Gwyneth deserved the top spot?
