Fast & Furious 6 Star Michelle Rodriguez Shockingly Says “Goodbye To Acting!”

Fast & Furious 6 star Michelle Rodriguez is ready to pump the brakes on her acting career.

The 34-year-old actress confessed in the Summer 2013 issue of Cosmopolitan for Latinas that she is poised to step away from the industry that made her a household name.  “I’m about to say goodbye to acting for a minute and move behind the camera,” she revealed. “I got into this business to write. I’ve waited 13 years to actually do it. Do you know how painful that is? It’s very painful. But like now I’m ready, so that means I have to do the cutoff. I’ll go into the mountains, and bye-bye everybody. Well, I’m a Cancer so…it’s in my nature to hide.”

Rodriguez, who rose to fame with a breakout role in the 2000 flick Girlfight and later went on to star as the quintessential tough girl in the Resident Evil franchise, the Fast & Furious franchise, Avatar, Machete, Battle: Los Angeles, and the ABC TV series Lost, admits life in the limelight has led to some poor decisions.

“I had some bad moments. I partied hard. The world knew it,” says Rodriguez, who was charged with eight misdemeanor charges based on two driving incidents including a hit-and-run and a DUI in 2003 alone. “I feel like my growth is a progression.  It’s like you’re about to fly out and head to Ibiza another year in a row and your gut’s telling you, ‘No, stay home and write.’ I go forward, and I’ve had times when I go back. Just last year I had a time where I had a bad stretch. I rebel against everything, including myself.”
