Do You Like The Ewing Athletics Focus Retro Sneaker That Will Be Released This Summer?
Last year, Ewing Athletics re-released their classic Ewing Athletics 33 Hi sneaker to the world and it got a great response. Due in part to the fact that Patrick Ewing himself helped promote the sneaker—and due in part to the fact that the New York Knicks had such a successful 2012-13 NBA regular season—the 33 Hi flew off of store shelves. It’s actually still flying off store shelves now, too, as sneakerheads continue to scoop up whatever colorway of the 33 Hi that they can. It was a successful release for Ewing Athletics, to say the least. So, with that in mind, they’re gearing up for another re-release this summer.
The photo that you see above features a teaser photo of the Ewing Athletics Focus retro sneaker that EA is planning on releasing. It’s the same sneaker that Patrick Ewing wore back in 1993, meaning that it is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. It was one of the most technologically advanced sneakers on the market back in ’93. And, while technology has taken about 500 steps forward since that time, it’s still a pretty dope sneaker. It features a mostly white upper with hits of royal blue and orange, neoprene inserts, and an ankle strap at the very tippy-top of the sneaker that was put there to help stabilize your foot. We doubt anyone will wear these for playing ball in 2013. But the strap adds a cool dimension to the sneaker and makes it instantly recognizable.
Although Ewing Athletics hasn’t announced a definitive release date for the Ewing Athletics Focus just yet, the sneaker will be released sometime this summer. And, much like the Ewing Athletics 33 Hi, we expect it to be a hot seller, simply because of the nostalgia factor that comes along with it.
