If you have been watching American Idol this season, then you know that judge Mariah Carey is a huge fan of the hashtag. The 43-year-old Grammy Award-winning artist has been using the phrase “#Pow” to describe many of the contestants’ stellar performances during the final weeks of the competition. Perhaps the diva’s own catchphrase will work for her most recent collaboration with R&B singer Miguel. Heralded by many as the first song of the summer, Mariah has joined forces with Miguel on the breathy duet “#Beautiful.”

“I’m a huge fan of his music and I think everybody is so blown away by him right now,” Carey said during an interview on On Air With Ryan Seacrest. “We got together, he had started writing this song with just the guitar riff… and I have to say this about him as a collaborator, sometimes when you haven’t worked with somebody, you don’t know really what they do in the studio and if they have the same kind of love for music that I have and he’s the truth. We just wanted to do something different that has a texture that feels fresh.”

Written and produced by the talented duo, the breathy ballad is sure to be one of the lead single’s on Carey’s highly-anticipated 14th studio album, which features A-list producers Jermaine Dupri, Hit-Boy, The-Dream, and Mike WiLL Made It. While Carey’s new album is due to hit stores this summer, the video for “#Beautiful,” directed by Joseph Kahn, will premiere on Wednesday’s episode (May 8) of American Idol.

Press play and listen to “#Beautiful” below. Is the song the perfect way to start the summer?
