Iman Shumpert Wore Some Wild adidas Originals JS Wings Sneakers After The Knicks Won The Other Night
New York Knicks guard Iman Shumpert is making quite the name for himself these days. Although he was relatively unknown to most New Yorkers when the Knicks drafted him a few years ago, Shumpert—or Shump as he’s known to Knicks fans now—has most certainly made the most of the bright lights and the big stage that New York City has provided for him. He’s sported a high-top fade for most of the 2012-13 NBA season. He’s been asked by the league not to shave the adidas logo into the side of his head. And, after the Knicks beat the Indiana Pacers in Game 2 of their best-of-7 playoff series on Tuesday night, he pulled out a pair of sneakers that had everybody talking.
You can see those sneakers in the photo provided above, which comes to you courtesy of Rachel Nichols. She spotted Shump wearing the adidas Originals JS Wings after the game and asked him to take a photo. He obliged and now we have photographic evidence of just how hard Shumpert wants to shine. If he’s willing to put those things onto his feet, he’s clearly willing to do just about anything to get some press!
We’re just kidding, of course. Something tells us that even if Shump wasn’t on the Knicks he would still be rocking these sneakers. However, we can’t say that we are in love with them. Outside of the fact that the glitter makes them look like something that Ke$ha would wear to a basketball game, they just don’t look like something that an NBA player should or would be wearing. Can you imagine if someone tried to wear these after an NBA game back in the ’90s? They would have been laughed out of the locker room.
What do you think about Shump’s fashion statement, though? If adidas Originals starting selling these, would you want a pair? Or would you leave them on the shelf so that some 6-year-old girl out there could cop them? Let us know in the comments section below.
