Skip The Funny Hats & Rock A Pair Of These New Balance 576 “Derby Day” Sneakers Instead

Last weekend, the annual Kentucky Derby took place down at Churchill Downs in Louisville. A horse named Orb won the race on a muddy track as “The Greatest Two Minutes in Sports” went off without a hitch. But let’s be real here for a second: The Kentucky Derby is hardly about who wins the race. After all, horse races take place every single day of the year in different parts of the country. But the Kentucky Derby has become such a big deal over the years because of all the tradition that surrounds it. Guys throw on their finest suits and hats for the occasion, and ladies throw on fancy dresses and hats in order to celebrate on the first Saturday of spring every year. And a good time is had by all.

Not everyone gets the opportunity to attend the Kentucky Derby, though. In fact, even if you’re an avid horseracing fan, there’s a good chance that you won’t ever make it down to Churchill Downs to catch a Derby race. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t celebrate the Derby in your own way. So, how can you do it? Well, for starters, you can pick up a pair of these New Balance 576 “Derby Day” sneakers. Thanks to the grey and pink colorway, the pink laces, and the picture of the hat and the dress on the tongue of the sneakers, the “Derby Day” represents all that the Kentucky Derby stands for. So you can rep the Derby on your own terms without putting on any of the silly clothes that go along with it.

Unfortunately, New Balance didn’t drop these in time for the Kentucky Derby this year. However, if you want to be the first one of your block to rock a pair of these next year, the suede and mesh sneaker can be purchased now. You can keep them on ice for next year or you can break them out now to celebrate the last half of spring. Either way, we guarantee you’ll get a few extra looks in these. We haven’t seen too many New Balance sneakers that look like this—and we doubt that we’ll see many anytime in the future. So scoop them up now while you can.
