With Iron Man 3 in theaters, Phase 2 of Marvel and Disney’s superhero films are currently underway. But what recently came out of Avengers director Joss Whedon‘s mouth about the sequel to the blockbuster superhero team up may make all comic book fans giddy with joy.

“I’ve done enough shows and movies to be comfortable with that. You do come to a point where we all agree. ‘Okay. Oh, I’ve got these two characters, two of my favorite characters from the comic book; a brother-sister act. They’re in the movie. That’s exciting.’ You know, you lock certain things in”

Those who read the comics know that he’s alluding to Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. The “brother-sister” act are classic members of The Avengers team. However, Twentieth Century Fox holds the rights to the X-Men comics and both characters are mutants. That’s where it gets a little complicated. The cool thing is that Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige explained that there is a possibility they could show up in the film.

“It’s a little complicated, but if they [Fox, which holds the X-Men rights] want to use them in the X-Men movie they could, [but] if we want to use them in The Avengers movie, we could.”

Awesome. This could mean that The Avengers 2 will feature Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Ant-Man, Wasp and whoever the hell else they can think of. Now that would be fun.
