Khloe Kardashian is pretty in pink on the June 2013 cover of Redbook magazine. But, inside, the reality star opens up about the ugly truth behind her infertility.

“It’s more about my hormones being off,” Khloe admits, while talking about unsuccessfully trying to get pregnant with her NBA baller husband Lamar Odom. “I was taking hormone shots to stabilize them, and you have to take those shots consistently and they have to be done by a doctor — you can do them yourself, but I couldn’t. And then after your cycle, you have to go to the doctor for ultrasounds and more testing. And if I’m in Miami and miss a treatment, I have to start all over again. It’s a commitment and I don’t mind doing it, but the timing was just off .”

Still, Khloe believes her struggle to concieve has a positive side. “I do think my difficulty getting pregnant has helped a lot of women,” she told the magazine. “Do I wish people would quit asking me about it 24/7? Yes, but I don’t regret it. I was 26 when that started, and I admit, I didn’t know a lot about my body. It was hard for me to understand what was happening because my mom had six kids and Kourtney got pregnant quickly. People assume I’m desperate for a baby. And yes, I would love to have a baby. But I’m 28, and I’ve been married three and a half years. I love my life, but it doesn’t feel incomplete right now.”

Despite her difficulty getting pregnant, Khloe promises she is happy for her big sister Kim, who is currently expecting her first child with rapper Kanye West. “Please. People want to assume that I’m devastated,” she scoffed. “I couldn’t be happier. I actually got mad at Kourtney, because she was afraid to tell me at first. So I get why people think I’m hurt, because my own sister thought I would be.”
Khloe also couldn’t be happier that Kanye, and not Kim’s ex-husband Kris Humphries, is the father. “I love Kanye,” said Khloe. “We’ve known him since 2004. He always had a crush on Kim, but she was never into him at the time. I’d always told Kim they were like two peas in a pod, and she would never listen. Then one day she says, ‘I think I like Kanye.’ I was like, ‘Since when?’”

For more from Khloe, be sure to pick up the June issue of Redbook on newsstands Tuesday, May 14.
