MLB Will Use Pink-Stitched Baseballs Today To Celebrate Mother’s Day & Raise Breast Cancer Awareness

If you tune into a Major League Baseball game today, you will probably see a few things that you wouldn’t normally see during an MLB game. For instance, you will likely see one or two guys from each team using a pink bat during the game. You will also probably see a bunch of pink cleats all over the field. And, if you look very closely, you will even see a difference in the baseballs that are going to be used during all MLB games today. Unlike regular baseballs, which feature red stitches on them, the baseballs used today will feature pink stitches.

Why is Major League Baseball playing with pink balls today? For starters, today is Mother’s Day (if that’s news to you, you better run to the store, like, now and then tell mom you’re on your way over!). And, like all of us, MLB players have mothers. So they honor their mothers today by wearing pink apparel, swinging pink bats, and even playing with pink balls. But MLB is specifically using pink balls for another reason as well. Just like other pro sports leagues, MLB will attempt to raise awareness about breast cancer by injecting plenty of pink into the games that are played today. They’ll also be running promos during games and promoting breast cancer in whatever ways they can during their full slate of games.

It’s a good idea for MLB to do this. When people tune into today’s games and see so much pink, they will most certainly Google “why are the yankees playing with a pink ball?” or ask a fellow MLB fan about all of the pink that they see. And when they do, they’ll be informed about the things that MLB is doing to celebrate Mother’s Day and raise awareness about breast cancer. Who knows? All of the pink could even inspire a few ladies out there to go and get checked for breast cancer, which could help save a few lives today. And if that is the end result, then we fully support MLB going pink for the day. Make sure you tune into a game today to see what it looks like.
