Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Gets A Trailer

The Marvel Universe is expanding onto the small screen. With Agent Phil Coulson arguably a breakout fan favorite, popping up everywhere from Iron Man to Thor to The Avengers, he’ll now get his own team and his own show with ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Website i09 provides a frame-by-frame breakdown of the whole 30-second clip, meticulously scouring it for clues. Mostly, they find images of the cast (which was no secret) kicking butt. But some eager speculation centers on whether the trailer teased appearances by Luke Cage, Rage, or a S.H.I.E.L.D. flying car.

I always thought Clark Gregg, with his reedy voice and affable presence, was an odd choice for all of the tough officers, agents, and government types he’s played regularly throughout his career. (He’s Special Agent Casper from The West Wing!) But he’s totally won me over, and after playing supporting roles in so many high level projects, I can’t wait to see him leading his own vehicle.

Just one problem:

***SPOILER ALERT FOR THE THREE PEOPLE WHO HAVEN’T SEEN THE AVENGERS***

Agent Coulson is dead. Hmmm.

Well, death probably isn’t a big obstacle for the resourceful, shady folks at S.H.I.E.L.D. The producers could simply ignore it- but the hashtag “CoulsonLives” appearing on a promotional site suggests that the show will address the agent’s miraculous resurrection.

What do you think of the first look at Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?
