What Team Is The Biggest Threat To The Miami Heat Winning Another NBA Title?

Now that the Oklahoma City Thunder have been eliminated from the playoffs, the path to another championship has become arguably that much easier for the Miami Heat to take home another title. But there’s a reason that they play the game and nothing is for sure until the final buzzer sounds.

With that being said, who is left to threaten the Heat?

The Indiana Pacers?

No, they haven’t rid themselves of those pesky Knicks as of yet but they sure do look like a team that might be able to give Miami the fits in a seven game series. They went 2-1 against them in the regular season and their defensive minded strategy could slow down the juggernaut, given that Dwyane Wade is still hobbled by his injury. With Paul George, Roy Hibbert, George Hill and David West in their starting five, that team can be a nightmare to deal with. Unfortunately, their lapses offensively and the fact that the Heat are the Heat could prove to be their downfall.

The San Antonio Spurs?

No. They are just too damn old to beat the Heat. The fact is that they will be lucky to get out of the Western Conference. The Golden State Warriors are giving them all they can handle and they need to be as fresh as possible to even be considered a threat to the Heat. Which brings us to…

The Memphis Grizzlies.

As of right now, the Memphis Grizzlies are the biggest threat to the Heat. And it is surprising that people are just now realizing how dangerous this team is. Ever since they got rid of Rudy Gay, the Grizzlies have seen the star power of Mike Conley and Marc Gasol illuminate. Conley has always been severely underrated as a point guard and Gasol has come into his own as one of the best centers in the league. Should they get past the winner of the Spurs/Warriors series (as I suspect they will) this is a team that should push LeBron and company in a championship series. Obviously, the Heat will be favored to win considering that they have the experience, but you cannot expect the Griz to just die in front of them. Zach Randolph is a man amongst boys with his “Old Man Game” and Marc Gasol’s ever-evolving game would give the Heat’s interior defense all kinds of trouble. Not to mention they should out rebound the Heat almost at will. Conley’s perimeter game and ability to work off of screens and knock down open jumpers will prove to be tough for Mario Chalmers to deal with. Tony Allen will do his best to slow LeBron down and is probably the best person that you can put in front of King James to at least give him a headache.

Will the Grizzlies win? Probably not. Miami and LeBron’s will to win is just too much. But it should be fun to watch.
