Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard is likely going to be one of the best point guards in the entire NBA in just a few short years. He proved it this year by winning the NBA’s Rookie of the Year award and by giving us a reason to tune into Trail Blazers game. He’s a true talent, and we won’t be surprised at all when he takes over the league sometime in the near future. To celebrate Lillard’s great rookie campaign, his sneaker company adidas just created this special pair of adidas Real Deal “Rookie of the Year” sneakers. They highlight his love for his hometown of Oakland and honor what he was able to do this season.

As you can see, the Damian Lillard x adidas Real Deal “Rookie of the Year” sneakers feature a red, black and grey upper, a purple outer sole, and a speckled look that expands throughout much of the sneaker. adidas also helped Lillard pay homage to Oak-Town by including a shootout to “Townbiz.” And they really took their time in crafting a sneaker that’s just as special as the season that Lillard just had. They may not be the most aesthetically-pleasing sneakers on the planet. But they’ve got a hell of a back story behind them.

All of that said, if you’re interested in copping a pair of these, you might be out of luck. Unfortunately, adidas only created 510 pairs of the Real Deal “Rookie of the Year” sneakers (510 is an area code in Oakland) and released them yesterday in Portland. But if you happen to know someone in Portland and you wear the right size, you still might be able to get your hands on a pair of these.

What do you think about the “Rookie of the Year” sneakers that adidas created for this year’s actual Rookie of the Year? Are you going to try and see if you can cop a pair before they sell out? In a few years, when Lillard’s stock rises even higher than it is right now, you might want to have a pair of these on ice. They could definitely have some value down the road.
