Watch Adam Levine’s Ridiculous New “Anti-Celebrity Fragrance” Commercial

Adam Levine has a funny way of promoting his two celebrity fragrances for him and her. In his first ever commercial, The Voice judge begins by admitting that he’s not exactly a fan of the very thing he’s selling.

“All right, I typically hate celebrity fragrances,” Levine says in the first few seconds of the promo clip.”It’s not that I hate celebrities and it’s not that I hate fragrances. It’s that when I see them, I don’t necessarily believe the people who were promoting them were particularly connected to what they were making.”

What follows is an odd montage of Levine driving around on his motorcycle, scientists mixing chemicals in a lab, hot models getting blind-folded and spanking each other, and wild horses running free through a field. So what does any of that have to do with Levine’s scent? Heck if we know, and we aren’t sure if Adam has a clue, either.

“It goes along with a really big part of who I am, and so I don’t really feel insecure,” he says in the clip directed by Travis Schneider. “I want[ed] to be involved every step of the way, whether it’s the design of the bottle, the way it smells on a woman. It’s very basic, very classic. The anti-celebrity fragrance, very simple.  I like to feel like, whether you’re writing a song, or wearing a shirt or walking down the street, whatever it is you’re doing—it kind of feels good to feel like you’re doing it in a different way.”

Right, Levine fails to mention exactly what his fragrance smells like but hey, he’s a celebrity, right? And despite his anti-celebrity fragrance stance, the fact that he fails to mention what it smells like means that if people buy his fragrance, it will essentially be based on Levine’s superstar status alone.
