Check Out The First Trailer For The Counselor From Ridley Scott

The director of Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator, and Prometheus is back. In The Counselor, Ridley Scott turns the camera not towards outer space or a kingdom full of swords and sandals, but to the drug trade.

According to IMDB, The Counselor follows a “lawyer [who] finds himself in over his head when he gets involved in drug trafficking.” Michael Fassbender stars as the lawyer; the film also features Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, and a whole host of other A-listers.

The movie is also the first original feature film screenplay from acclaimed novelist Cormac McCarthy, author of such works as Blood Meridian and The Crossing. Several of McCarthy’s works have been adapted into successful films, such as No Country For Old Men and The Road.

Personally, I think this trailer makes The Counselor look like No Country For Old Men taking itself too seriously (it even has Javier Bardem with a bad haircut!), set to the soundtrack of Prometheus. But first impressions can be deceiving.

The Counselor is scheduled for a US debut in October. Are you excited for it?
