Queen Latifah Debuts A Trailer Of Her New Talk Show: “I Can’t Wait For People To See It!”
Now that The Oprah Winfrey Show is no more, Queen Latifah is eying the daytime TV throne. The Queen Latifah Show is set to air this fall. Executive produced by Overbrook Entertainment‘s Jada Pinkett-Smith, Latifah is certain she’ll soon be crowned the queen of talk.
“We knew that there would be a big rush into the field,” the rap royal confessed to the Real Style Network. “Some [shows] survived and thrived and some did not. It was better for me to not be part of the wild bunch and let everything calm down a bit. Let the audience decide what they wanted more of and make a little room for me.”
And that “room” will be impeccably designed by another musical legend: Lenny Kravitz. Sony Pictures Television announced that Kravitz Design Inc., led by the rocker himself, will create and style the set for the new daytime entertainment talk show on the Sony Studio lot in Culver City, CA.
“It’s a thrill to be designing the set for The Queen Latifah Show,” said Lenny Kravitz. “This is the first time Kravitz Design has created an environment for television, which makes it a very exciting project for us. The set reflects Latifah’s personality and spirit and will be an inviting, comfortable space for her guests, studio audience and viewers. I never thought of designing for television but I suppose growing up in a TV studio watching my mother has come full circle.”
Added Latifah, “Lenny is not only an incredible musician but an incredible designer, and I almost can’t believe he is designing the set for my show. I can’t wait for people to see it.”
The Queen Latifah Show launches September 16, 2013. Check out the trailer below. Do you think Queen Latifah will reign daytime this fall?
