ESPN The Magazine got lucky recently by scoring 21 hot and hard-bodied athletes for their fifth annual “Body Issue.”

The 2013 roster features Denver Nuggets NBA player Kenneth Faried (above), San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, Olympic volleyball player Kerri Walsh-Jennings, and 77-year-old golf pro Gary Player, the oldest athlete ever to be photographed.

“I’m comfortable in my own skin, and I love my body,” said Faried of posing in the buff. “I feel that this is the year for people to feel free to express themselves. This is the year Jason Collins came out and said ‘I’m an NBA center. I’m black. And I’m gay.’ I’m the first NBA player to join Athlete Ally, so I wanted to show I’m happy with who I am and support people who are gay, lesbian, transgender, transsexual and so on.”

Kaepernick added, “Being selected by ESPN The Magazine for the Body Issue is an incredible honor. Thank you for believing in me, my 49ers family and my INK!”

The 2013 lineup, which features eleven women and ten men, also includes NHRA Funny Car driver Courtney Force, 49ers star Vernon Davis, NBA star John Wall, Major League Baseball stars Matt Harvey and Giancarlo Stanton, WNBA player Swin Cash, NHL winger Joffrey Lupul, golfer Carly Booth, snowboarder Elena Hight, mixed martial artist Miesha Tate, boxer Marlen Esparza, soccer player Sydney Leroux, motocross competitor Tara Gieger, tennis players Agnieszka Radwanska and John Isner, and rock climbers Chris Sharma and Daila Ojeda, according to the International Business Times.

“It was nerve-racking because even though it was a private beach, there’s still big houses all around and we had a couple of people trying to walk by the shoot,” Tate told The Daily News. “They kept turning around and walking in the background and our crew kept having to hold up blinders so they wouldn’t see me. That took any modesty right away. I had to go with the flow.”
