Kanye West Reveals A New High-Fashion Collaboration
Now that his baby girl North West has officially been welcomed to the world, proud papa Kanye West is ready to give birth to a whole new project.
The 36-year-old rapper announced via Twitter that he will be collaborating with French contemporary brand A.P.C. on a menswear capsule collection featuring lots of denim, jeans, hoodies, and possibly V-neck T-shirts. “Thank you Jean Touitou for letting me create with you,” West tweeted in conjunction with the announcement.
A.P.C. founder Jean Touitou first met West two years ago when the rapper visited his studio in France. WWD reports he was simply introduced to Kanye as “Kenny” and “Touitou confessed he didn’t know he was talking to the music deity until he lowered his sunglasses and said, ‘I’m a hip-hop artist.’” The project came about “organically” and was conceptualized almost immediately, according to the designer, although it took some time to get the ball rolling.
“We wanted to do something related to clothes that’s not high fashion, probably something more sporty, I would say,” Touitou told GQ in a recent interview about the capsule collection, before alluding to Kanye’s busy schedule. “But it’s just hard to get the guy out of a plane.”
