Shaquille O’Neal Appreciated When Reebok Let Him Help Design The Reebok Shaqnosis Sneakers

Shaquille O’Neal isn’t too sure how people are going to respond to the re-release of the Reebok Shaqnosis today. Although he thinks the sneakers will sell out, he’s well aware of the fact that there are about a hundred and one other dope signature sneakers for people to cop right now. So he’s not banking on people snatching every single pair of the Shaqnosis sneakers up. He said so recently during an interview in Harlem, N.Y. with a handful of publications.

“LeBron got some hot ones,” he said. “Kobe, Durant. I know we’re doing a limited amount…I’m just blessed. I’m 41 and I haven’t played in a few years, but young kids will be wearing them and talking about them so I don’t really complain about much.”

Shaq is right. Although the Shaqnosis was never Shaq’s most popular signature sneaker, it will get plenty of love when it hits stores today thanks to the nostalgia factor attached to it. The unique design is something that people have come to appreciate, too. And about 17 years after it was released, Shaq is most happy about the fact that he played a major role is designing the crazy Shaqnosis sneaker. It’s something that he clearly takes pride in, and he seems to appreciate the fact that Reebok went out on a bit of a limb when they let him play a role in putting the sneaker together.

“When I was coming up, Reebok gave me a chance to have my own sneaker,” he said. “They didn’t really let me design them [by myself], but they let me have a say in the look. I always wanted myself to be different…This one is different…Luckily, I had that opportunity.”

We’re the lucky ones. Although we weren’t all big fans of the Shaqnosis when it first hit stores, we are glad that Reebok is re-releasing it. Where do you stand on the sneaker? Will you be picking up a pair in stores today and helping it sell out—or do you think that Reebok should have left this sneaker in the past? Let us know in the comments section below.
