On Friday, July 12, 2013, Tristan “Mack” Wilds was featured in the Hip-Hop Improv Show – TAKE IT PERSONAL presented by Hot 97′s Cipha Sounds and Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB), the top improv theater and school in NYC. Improvisers Cipha Sounds, Abra Tabak, Phil Jackson, Lydia Hensler, Brandon Gardner, and Brandon Scott Jones reenacted stories originally told by Wilds.

During the show, the actor, best known as Michael from HBO’s hit series The Wire, shared his memories growing up in the projects of New York City, and also dished on his latest endeavor as a recording artist. Wilds revealed that he’ll be dropping an album in the fall titled New York: A Love Story, and that his first single will be “Own It.” Produced by R&B star Ne-Yo and hip-hop beat maker Salaam Remi, the song features Wilds singing over a 90′s inspired hip-hop beat. “This kid Mack Wilds is a star, said Cipha Sounds. “But he’s not Hollywood. He got that real New York attitude that’s gonna take him to the top. I hope he takes me with him.”
