Dikembe Mutombo Talks About The Return Of His adidas Mutombo Signature Sneaker

Submitted by on July 18, 2013 – 9:52 amNo Comment

By now, you’ve no doubt heard about and read about the return of the adidas Mutombo. Back in the spring, adidas announced that they would be re-releasing the sneaker this summer. And while we still have to wait a little more than a month for the sneaker to drop, we’re already starting to see it pop up out on the streets. People seem genuinely excited about the return of the adidas Mutombo and can’t wait to get their hands on it. And we can’t say that we blame them. After all, the adidas Mutombo is a dope sneaker and one of the few sneakers endorsed by an NBA big man that we can actually co-sign. So we’re not surprised at all about the excitement that’s surrounding the sneaker right now.

But what does Mutombo himself think about the re-release of his classic sneaker nearly two decades after it was first released? That’s one of the many questions that Nice Kicks asked the former NBA All-Star during a recent sit-down interview at Sneaker Con NYC. In addition to talking about his feelings on the sneakers, he also talked about the evolution of the shoe, the sneaker game as a whole, and why he feels people are really looking forward to the re-release of the adidas Mutombo. It’s pretty interesting to hear his take on his signature sneaker. You can watch the video that Nice Kicks shot of the interview below:

Now that you’ve heard Mutombo talk about the adidas sneaker, are you more excited than ever to pick it up at the end of August? Do you get the sense that sneakerheads are going to be standing out in line for the sneaker to drop? Do you think that more former athletes like Mutombo should push for their signature sneakers to be re-released? Let us know what you think in the comments section below. We think it’s pretty clear that these sneakers are going to be in high demand, and we can’t wait to get our hands on a pair of them.
