Dwight Howard is headed to Houston this fall to play for the Rockets. But in the meantime, he’s on a mission to see the world. As part of a promotional tour for adidas, Howard is set to head to China in August where he will spend 10 days touring the country. His stops will include cities like Beijing, Hong Kong, and Seoul, and he’ll also make a stop in South Korea as well as one in Taipei, Taiwan. The purpose of the trip? To help increase his visibility in Asia and to give the people over on that side of the world a better look at him and his adidas D Howard 4 sneaker. So to commemorate the trip, Howard and adidas will be putting out a very special adidas D Howard 4 “World Tour” sneaker.

As you can see, the “World Tour” shoe looks a whole lot different than most of the other D Howard 4 sneakers that we’ve seen, because it includes a lot more color than we’re used to seeing on the D Howard 4. It has black, orange, red, and yellow on the upper part of the sneaker in addition to blue laces, a blue heel tab, and a blue sock liner. The adidas Three Stripes logo is done up in gold, and the tongue features a holographic aspect to it, which really helps the sneaker pop. There is a lot going on here, for sure, as adidas apparently wanted to make a big statement with this shoe.

The D Howard “World Tour” serves its intended purpose, which is to get Howard and adidas a lot of attention overseas. But do you think that adidas made the right call by releasing this adidas D Howard 4 colorway as the official “World Tour” sneaker? We tend to think that they should have toned it down a bit. But if you’re into the design of this sneaker and want to grab a pair for yourself, these will hit stores next month through a handful of adidas retailers. Check out some more images of the adidas D Howard 4 below (courtesy of Sole Collector) and let us know if you’ll be buying a pair when they are released in August.
