Blake Lively Says Husband Ryan Reynolds “Has Better Taste Than Me” In Lucky
Blake Lively may only be 25 years old, but the actress is already an international style icon. And yet, the blonde bombshell doesn’t even have a stylist. Inside the September issue of Lucky magazine, the star opens up about her fashion sense.
“I never think about how other people will respond to the way I dress,” she said. “Dressing up is all about reflecting how I feel. That could call for wearing something totally inappropriate, like a beaded purse and a gorgeous pair of crystal heels just to go to the grocery store. I don’t have a stylist. I trust myself.”
Lively does admit that her style was shaped by her years playing elite New York City socialite Serena van der Woodsen in the hit CW series Gossip Girl. “I felt like I tried on clothes for a living,” Lively said of the role. “I like a waistline, a nip almost right under the boobs, because I want the lines of the clothes to make a journey around my curves, rather than travel straight up my body.”
When she isn’t dressing for the red carpet, Blake admits she enjoys styling her Bedford, N.Y. home with husband Ryan Reynolds. “With film and TV, you don’t see the results for months. Building a home, you get immediate gratification,” Lively explained. “I’m very lucky to be with someone who has better taste than me. We influence each other in different ways.”
And while the star listens to advice from her husband and high-profile friends like Christian Louboutin, Blake dresses strictly for the woman in the mirror. “I was recently asked how my style has changed since I got married, as if I was living under some sort of dictatorship,” she laughed. “I should hope I dress differently at 25 than I did when I graduated high school. I hope I never stop changing.”
