Jennifer Lopez Close To Signing Deal To Return To American Idol
After a disastrous twelfth season marked by highly publicized fights between judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, American Idol producers are set to announce that Jennifer Lopez will return to the judging panel for the upcoming season of the show.
Jennifer originally joined the show for its tenth season, but left after only two seasons to pursue other opportunities. Reportedly, AI producers tried to bring her back last season to replace Mariah in an urgent effort to stop the show’s plummeting ratings, but the plan fell through because of threats from Mariah’s legal team.
Jennifer will be joined on the judging panel by Keith Urban, who’s the only judge from season 12 that’ll return to the show, and possibly Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am. According to Deadline, J.Lo will get around $15 million for her services. An official announcement is expected in the next week or two.
