Mel Gibson and Antonio Banderas have become the latest action heroes-of-a-certain-age to sign on for the third installment of The Expendables. They join a growing roster of some of Hollywood’s most recognizable names who have appeared in the franchise.

The original Expendables, about a team of mercenaries (who are experienced, and maybe a little “too old for this s**t,”) was created by Sylvester Stallone, who wrote, directed, and starred, alongside a mix of actors and athletes like  Jason Statham, Jet Li, Stallone’s Rocky IV co-star Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Steve Austin, Terry Crews. The film also featured cameos from Arnold Schwarzenegger (who was still governor of California at the time of filming) and Bruce Willis. The Expendables 2 added Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and youngster Liam Hemsworth.

The Expendables 3 is also said to include Twilight star Kellan Lutz, UFC fighter Ronda Rousey, and boxer Victor Ortiz. Harrison Ford was confirmed recently as well. Gibson is rumored to be playing the main antagonist, and other rumored cast members include Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage, and Mila Jovovich.

Who else could be added to this list of action stars? Some notable high-grossing absences might include Tom Cruise, Will Smith, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Mark Whalberg, Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel, Angelina Jolie, and Mila Jovovich.

What do you think about the casting? Who would you like to see in The Expendables 3?
