Kim Kardashian Slams Katie Couric: “I Hate Fake Media Friends!”

Katie Couric has failed to keep up with the Kardashians.

In a recent interview with In Touch Weekly, the 56-year-old journalist admitted she was baffled and wondered why the Kardashians were famous to begin with. “I think it’s mostly teenage girls that are interested,” Couric said in the magazine that hit stands Wednesday.

The statement pissed off new mama Kim Kardashian, who had recently received a beautiful Barney’s polka dot creme colored sleeper from Couric with a card congratulating her and Kanye West on the birth of their first child North West.”Dear Kim and Kanye, Congratulations on the birth of your baby girl!” the card read. “And may I humbly suggest you continue the K tradition. Fondly, Katie Couric.”

In response to Katie’s snide remark, Kardashian Instagrammed a picture of the gift with the hilarious caption: “#IHateFakeMediaFriends #MayIHumblySuggestYouNotSendGiftsThenTalkShit.”

After hundreds of media outlets picked up on the story, Couric quickly tried to backpedal and released this statement: “I’ve met Kim before and I think she’s a really sweet person. I was responding to a reporter’s question and explaining how I’m intrigued by the public’s fascination with her family. I didn’t mean to hurt her feelings. The gift is genuine, and I’m happy for Kim and Kanye.”

Do you think you’ll ever see North West in that sleeper?
