Basketball Wives LA Stars Gloria & Laura Govan Are Working On A Spin-Off Reality Show
Gloria Govan is working on a spin-off show to her spin-off show.
After leaving Basketball Wives after Season 1 in the hopes of ridding her life of the drama, the now-wife of Matt Barnes intended on making a fresh start in the spin-off Basketball Wives: LA, which co-starred her sister Laura Govan (the on and off fiancee of Gilbert Arenas). But it wasn’t long before the drama ensued with fellow castmates Draya Michele, Jackie Christie, and Malaysia Pargo. Now the Govan sisters are hoping that their latest move on the small screen will finally bring them the peace (and paycheck) they have been searching for.
“We’re working on a family show—me and my sister, Gilbert, Matt, all of our kids—you know, my sister has got like 18 kids,” Gloria joked during an interview with theJasmineBrand. “I [was] just saying ‘Gosh! You have a lot of kids!’ Yeah, it’s really 4. But it feels like 18, because they’re all over the place. So yeah, we’re doing a lot of stuff. We have a lot of stuff that we’re doing together which is really cool.”
But don’t expect to see Shaunie O’Neal, Evelyn Lozada, or any of the former castnates. “So the show would be just the Govans,” Gloria confirmed. “I mean the Govan sisters and their husbands and their families. You know Gilbert Arenas is one of the greatest players that has played. Matt is obviously, he just came off from one of his best seasons in his entire career so we’re really excited about what that one brings. But really, we just want to show people that the real, true grind of the basketball wives and just being what it looks like to be in that life. Mainly, I think it’d really just show us and our families and how much stuff we really have going on.”
Expect the show to focus on how Matt and Gloria’s relationship has changed since they tied the knot this past August. “It just feels more I guess… solidified, more real,” Gloria says of life with Matt post-wedding. “Now like when we get into arguments, I don’t kick him out of the house. Now I’m like, just go downstairs…Whereas before I’m like, ‘Pack your shit! Get out!’ Now I’m like, ‘Can you just scoot over?’ You know what I mean? So, whatever. It just makes it more ‘real’, it’s cool.”
