Drake Responds To Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Control’ Verse: ‘Kendrick’s Not Murdering Me At All’

With all of the responses to Kendrick Lamar‘s fire starting verse on “Control,” the one person that has remained relatively silent through all of this has been Drake. Perhaps the only rapper named in that song that is arguably hotter than Kendrick Lamar finally spoke to Billboard about the song that has everyone up in arms.

“(I) went about my day, went and got dinner and kept it moving,” Drake said about the song that has elicited responses from the likes of Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Joey Bada$$, and a host of others. “It just sounded like an ambitious thought to me. That’s all it was. I know good and well that Kendrick’s not murdering me, at all, in any platform. So when that day presents itself, I guess we can revisit the topic.”

When asked why he has remained silent on the subject for so long. Drake’s answer was simple: “I didn’t really have anything to say about it.”

While everyone else in the industry either took issue or gave props to Lamar, Drake appears to be unfazed by the Compton rapper’s lightning rod of a verse. Does that mean that Drake might have a few bars sent Kendrick’s way on his new album Nothing Was The Same just to remind him that he may be hotter than everyone else in hip hop today, except for Drake? The two have worked together in the past and this likely won’t affect their relationship in the slightest.

Just a friendly game of hip hop where everyone is competitive and nobody gets hurt.
