The 2014 Robocop Remake Has A Trailer

Back in 1987, the film about a superhuman cyborg law enforcer known as Robocop took the film industry by storm. Starring Peter Weller and directed by Paul Verhoevan, the film would be a massive box office smash and spawn two sequels, an animated series, toys, video games and more. Of course, Hollywood can’t let a good movie go without it getting remade for a new audience, so the gears began turning in 2005 regarding a reboot of the franchise.

Now, with Brazilian director Jose Padilha attached along with Joel Kinnaman in the title role, Robocop is set to return in 2014. With the film featuring the likes of Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton, and Gary Oldman, no chances are being taken for this big budget reboot. We finally have our first trailer for the film that shows Kinnaman in the new version of the Robocop suit. It’s not that clunky silver getup that Weller plodded around in back in 1987. The new version is a sleeker version that opts for black rather than silver to give it a refreshing look.

But what I’m concerned about is the story. CGI will likely play a major role, but the original did so well with a modest $12 million budget. This is likely a blowout financially and will look awesome. Will people care though?
