Beyonce’s Ex-Bodyguard Norman Oosterbroek Killed By Police Tasers In Naked Miami Home Invasion
Looks like even bodyguards need bodyguards.
Norman Oosterbroek, the former 43-year-old bodyguard to Hollywood A-listers Beyonce, Jay Z, Rihanna and Lady Gaga, was killed after a bizarre series of events left the man tasered to death. According to several reports by the Miami-Dade police, officials were called to the Miami mansion of Markus and Christiane Jung at 10:45 p.m. on Monday, September 2, to handle a naked intruder that was said to be terrorizing the owners.
Upon arriving on the scene, officials found the 6-foot-5, 280-pound Oosterbroek fighting with Markus. During the commotion, Pinecrest police noted that Oosterbroek was seen “ingesting an unknown substance.” Oosterbroek then attacked the police who tried to intervene and was stopped with a Taser that eventually led to his death.
“We’re still awaiting toxicology reports this morning,” Miami-Dade Police spokesman Detective Javier Baez said in a statement. “It’s possible that he may have been under some type of narcotics. Again, he was observed swallowing, ingesting some kind of substance, unknown substance that is.”
Following the incident, a distraught Christiane Jung said: “Our family needs time to heal. This was really, really horrible and we can’t talk about it now. I can tell you that Pinecrest police took very good care of us. It was horrifying.”
While Oosterbroek lived in her neighborhood, she admits, “We really don’t know the man at all.”
Also known in Europe as the “Dutch Giant” because of his large and threatening frame, Oosterbroek got his start in South Africa as the official bodyguard of Nelson Mandela. He later founded the celebrity bodyguard agency and international security firm RAD. Oosterbroek is survived by his wife April McDaniel, who he married at a gorgeous ceremony at New York’s Botanical Garden in 2009 and his two small children.
